Lake Minnetonka Shores is looking for Volunteer Visitors for our residents. Volunteer visitors will provide regularly scheduled or one-time quality interaction with residents at Lake Minnetonka Shores. Responsibilities: · Visit residents in their rooms or in common areas · Document your visits with each resident via the Volunteer 1:1forms provided. · Visit could include activities such as: Reading to resident, playing cribbage or other table games, sharing music, manicures, taking walks inside or outside, outdoor activities (swing, garden, walk down to lake) etc. Qualifications/Skills/Requirements: · Must be 14 years of age or older to visit independently with the residents · Must be self-directed and self-motivated · Kind, compassionate and patient disposition Time Commitment/Hours: · Bi-weekly commitment; Weekly commitment desire Time and Day of week is flexible for volunteer Benefits to Volunteer: · Build relationships with residents from our continuum of care. · Volunteers have stated they get more from volunteering than they give · Builds self-esteem · Resume’ building - schools and employers highly regard applicants who volunteer Reports to: · Volunteer Director & Life Enrichment Staff Training and/or Support Provided: · Orientation required prior to start date · Resident interests to be discussed prior to visit to ensure success for the volunteer and resident. Lake Minnetonka Shores is looking for Volunteer Escorts to bring residents to and from activities. This is a 2-hour per event volunteer opportunity. Choose an activity or more and how often you can volunteer (twice a month, weekly, once a month for more than one activity). Volunteer escorts are needed for: - Friday entertainment (2:00-4:00p.m.): Every Friday there is a musical event for all residents. - Sunday Chapel Services (9:30-10:30a.m. and 10:30-11:30a.m.): Escort care center residents to services. - Firepit Fun Thursday(11:15a.m.-1:30p.m.): Once a month, escort care center residents to fun lunch activity. - Monthly Birthday Bash (1:30-3:30): Once a month, escort residents to monthly birthday party. - Pontoon boat (Seasonal needs M-TH, times vary by resident area) Volunteer escorts will need to complete online training, a one-to-one meeting with Volunteer Director and a state mandated background check. Responsibilities: · Escort residents safely to/from assigned activities · Be familiar with wheelchair escorting and general escorting procedures from Volunteer Handbook Qualifications/Skills/Requirements: · Must be 16 years of age or older · Moderate pushing/lifting/walking required · Kind, energetic and patient disposition Time Commitment/Hours: · Weekly commitment or on/call status · 2-4 hours/per outing needed Benefits to Volunteer: · Build relationships with senior residents · Be part of a fun-loving team · Builds self-esteem & gives that "feel good" feeling in helping another human being · Volunteering looks good on a resume’ Reports to: ·Volunteer Director and Life Enrichment staff · Training and/or Support Provided: · Volunteer Orientation · On the job training · Activity staff support Questions?
