Mission Statement

The mission of the Austin Museum of Art is to educate and inspire a diverse audience about the visual arts and their relevance to our time.

Description

The Art School of the Austin Museum of Art, located on the 12-acre Lake Austin site of historic Laguna Gloria, provides a student-centered, community-oriented program of art instruction founded on a belief that creativity is an innate human ability. The year-round curriculum is designed to foster visual awareness; to emphasize satisfaction in experience over performance; and to help students master technical skills. With its high teaching and training standards, The Art School is pro-artist. With its outreach programs to make the creative process accessible to students from diverse backgrounds citywide, it is also pro-community.

I strongly reccomend this program. I had so much fun helping the kids paint things and other things like that. I helped the teachers with student questions and preparing for projects. The place itself is just BEAUTIFUL! I cant wait to go back :D
