Mission Statement

The Sophie Hirsh Srochi Jewish Discovery Museum at the Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta is a hands-on, interactive museum geared for children ages 11 and under and their families. Visitors are invited to dress up and climb aboard Noah's Ark, celebrate Shabbat with family and friends, venture into Jewish Outer Space, write a note to place in the Western Wall (notes are taken to Israel by community members), play with a miniature synagogue, and much more. Visitors are transformed into participants as they learn about Jewish traditions and Jewish heritage through play and imagination.

Description

The museum is open to the public for families to come in and enjoy. As well, we offer specialized programs for school groups, Jewish family education programs, and safe, fun birthday parties for children. Many of our exhibits are permanent, while we offer new interactive featured exhibits approximately every eight months. Each visit to the Museum is a unique experience! The Sophie Hirsh Srochi Jewish Discovery Museum opened in June 2000. We are an affiliate of the Zimmer Children's Museum in Los Angeles, California. It is our vision and the vision of the Srochi's that the Museum will continue to grow and offer unlimited learning and recreational opportunities for the Atlanta community.
