Venu Madhuri is a not-for-profit organisation, for integrated, sustainable rural development in India for: Sustainable Agriculture Watershed Development Cattle Development Cottage Industry Health Education The Venu madhuri Trust is registered with the charity commissioner and donations to the trust enjoy IT exemptions under sec 80G. The aim of the trust is to promote activities which are in harmony with the environment and which lead to healthy and sustainable development. The focus is on rural areas where majority of the Indian population live and where natural resources are either untapped or exploited. It works in Ramanwadi dist. of Kolhapur dist. in the state of Maharasthra with offices in Mumbai and Kolhapur. Environmental importance: Ramanwadi village is located at an altitude of 800m in the hills of Radhanagari Wildlife Sanctuary which is a part of the Western Ghats. The Western Ghats have been declared as a biodiversity â??hot-spotâ?? due to presence of diverse variety of fauna and flora. Ramanwadi village is surrounded by tropical wet evergreen forests. However, depleting forest cover in Radhnagari sanctuary is disturbing the ecology of the local environment and thus putting its rich natural resource heritage at risk.
