Description
The National Maritime Heritage Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, brings a fresh approach to educating today's youth while stimulating economic and cultural community development along Washington's waterfront. NMHF's maritime education and community outreach programs offer excitement and hands on exploration, widening student's cultural horizons and offering a unique view of history. Our programs reach diverse populations and while some demonstrate the relevance of school; other programs offer training and opportunity. The SPIRIT and Tall Ship Visit Programs offer a hands-on approach to maritime history with a program that highlight a variety of subjects including: social studies, geography, history, math and science. With Kids Set Sail & DC Sail and the Small Boat Building Program, we offer sailing lessons and boat building apprenticeship opportunities.
