Mission Statement

Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County works in partnership with God and people everywhere, from all walks of life, to develop communities with God's people in need by building houses so that there are decent houses in decent communities in which God's people can live and grow into all that God intended.

Description

Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry. Habitat works in partnership with people in need to build and renovate decent, affordable housing. The houses then are sold to those in need, Habitat's partner families, at no profit and with no interest charged. Partner families invest 250 hours per adult of their own labor -- sweat equity -- into building their homes and the homes of others. Their mortgage payments go into a revolving fund that is used to build more houses.
