Mission Statement

To preserve, protect, perpetuate, and educate the public about the Delaware and Hudson Canal, particularly in Ulster County, New York.

Description

Small historical society with only one part-time paid staff, governed by a Board of Trustees. Our collection consists of papers, photographs, maps, and artifacts relating to the Delaware and Hudson Canal and Gravity Railroad. The Museum is housed in an 1885 former Episcopal Chapel. We maintain a Five Locks Walk, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, that is a trail on the canal towpath.
