The mission of Watermonsters inc. is to create art that connects New Yorkers to the water surrounding them, create a sense of identity with their waterfront by embracing large scale performance art and by creating and encouraging a mythos of watermonsters lurking off our city's shores.

Description

Watermonsters inc. is a performing arts company dedicated to large scale performance art on the New York City waterfront. The image of water monsters is based on historical mythical figures in the waters, an image that is widely understood across cultures and age groups and facilitates a unique level of artistic and dramatic possiblity. Watermonsters inc. looks to the vibrant tradition and successful model of outdoor performance companies that exist around the world in setting similar standards of professional artistry and experimentation with the landscape in a company dedicated exclusively to public performance in New York City. Through our work, art finds a unique way to participate in New York City's effort to reclaim and celebrate the public nature of our waterfront.
