GOALS For Women

Mission Statement

Mission Statement: GOALS For Women is a 501c3 mental health and human service agency providing culturally-competent counseling, mentoring, advocacy and empowerment services to low- and no-income at risk women of African descent (and their families) living in the city of Oakland, CA. GOALS For Women's principal project, The African American Women's Access and Empowerment Initiative, develops, evaluates and deliver services that foster African American welfare to work women's cultural, social, ethical and intellectual development. Through mentoring and coaching in critical thinking, community development, self-management and parenting, we strive to instill the skills needed to effect social change first at social service and community level. Simultaneously, we mentor pride in African heritage and indigenous cultural traditions that help heal and eliminate racial hate and bridge the gaps between various racial and ethnic groups.
