West African Health Initiatives

Description

The West African Health Initiatives will form affiliations with US hospitals, medical schools and research facilities to send medical staff to West Africa. Affiliates will not only provide different levels of medical care for HIV/AIDS, Malaria, Tuberculosis and Cancer treatment, but will train local medical personnel in care and clinical research to ensure that WAHI ¢ s work is continued even after they retire or return to the US. We will strengthen the local health care delivery system by helping to establish self-sustaining medical centers in Sub-Saharan West Africa, which will continue to serve the people of the region indefinitely, devise cost-effective strategies for prevention of infectious diseases and acquire, store, transport and distribute donated vaccines, pharmaceuticals and equipment.
