Mission Statement

The Mission of Friends of Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge is to support the development and management of Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge (TRNWR). We are dedicated to restoring and protecting Refuge habitats as well as providing wildlife education and recreation.

Description

The Friends of Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge (the Friends) is a community-based nonprofit organization. Unlike most refuges, Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge was established due to the vision and hard work of a group of local citizens who saw the value of having a National Wildlife Refuge in the midst of a rapidly growing urban area. These founders worked with local political leaders to gain approval for and the establishment of the Refuge. We offer volunteer opportunities to help provide environmental education opportunities for students and adults; increase public awareness of this refuge and the wildlife refuge system; and with rehabilitation of refuge lands for wildlife use.
