Mission Statement

The Carroll County Humane Society strives to provide shelter and care for stray, abused or surrendered animals. Our goal is to eliminate euthanasia as a means of controlling the unwanted pet population through spay/neuter programs, education, and adoption. Once an animal has been admitted into our care, we maintain a No-Kill philosophy, striving to end the suffering experienced by homeless animals. We intend to care for the animal in a humane manner until adoption, unless the animal is suffering due to serious illness, injury, behavior problems or kennel stress. To eliminate suffering, humane euthanasia becomes the only option in these cases. Due to the financial constraints of many county citizens, the Carroll County Humane Society will provide payment plans for spay/neuter surgeries for those pet owners in need of financial assistance. Providing proper care for pets is not only the moral obligation of pet owners but is also state law. The Carroll County Humane Society will investigate complaints of cruelty and neglect, attempt to educate owners whenever possible, provide temporary care for animals when necessary, and punish offenders to the greatest extent allowed by law when no other attempts at rehabilitation are successful.

Description

The Carroll County Humane Society is a NO-KILL Animal Shelter in McKenzie, West Tennessee. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, with funding coming entirely from private contributions, fundraising and grants. We care for approximately 200 animals at one time in a building we've purchased and in foster homes. Our goal is to utilize Adoption and Spay/Neuter as our community's animal population control - not euthanasia. We hope to insure that all companion animals have a warm, safe, loving home and to assist and educate the public about proper pet care. We also give shelter to abused animals while assisting law enforcement to prosecute their abusers. Our Current Programs include: Adoption Program; Animal Welfare Program; Education Program; Foster Care & Foster vs Shelter Program; 'Save-A-Life Sponsor' a Shelter Animal Program; Spay/Neuter Assistance Program
