Mission Statement

FSWW provides a creative, nurturing learning environment for a new millennium generation of emerging playwrights of all colors in the "global" Village of Harlem.

Description

Founded in 1973 by Garland Lee Thompson with actor Morgan Freeman, FSWW offers: 1) a Monday Reading/Critique Series of New Plays for the nurturing of new and known playwrights and their works. This is a theatre development laboratory and showcase. 2) A Writers/Directors' Series of 2-3 Staged Showcase Productions. 3) The Larry Neal Memorial Playwrights' Seminar Series. It meets on Saturdays as a group setting for playwrights to develop their playwriting craft and scripts through class readings and critiques.
