Mission Statement

Casa Romero Renewal Center, a non-profit Catholic urban retreat center, has served the Latino community of Milwaukee since 2001, with a particular commitment to meeting the needs of low-income, immigrant families. With the vision of a peaceful, just and sustainable society in which every person can achieve their fullest potential, our mission is to form and renew individuals, strengthen families, and build community.

Description

This past year, Casa Romero’s staff and facilitators spent over 13,729 program hours providing workshops, retreats, and transformational experiences for nearly 1,330 teens and adults. We believe that these individuals, with the leadership capacity and self-awareness they have cultivated, strengthen their families and enrich the local community.

Our mission is achieved through three principal program categories: family enrichment, spiritual formation, and youth development. All of our programs seek to:

  • Offer a safe, structured, nurturing family environment
  • Engage individuals in the recognition and understanding of their unique gifts
  • Facilitate youth dreams, goals, and the creation of a life vision
  • Provide youth and adults with spiritual and leadership formation
  • Help inform a positive worldview

Casa Romero sees the family as a vital point of entry and the heart of all we do. Our programs revitalize and motivate busy parents and students, fortify family communication and promote mutual understanding, and encourage community engagement. We believe today’s world needs supportive, healthy families and energetic young leaders, who not only derive their sense of self by what they do, but also by who they are. We seek to empower individuals by helping them discover the abundant potential they already possess--and inspiring them to use their gifts and talents in service of the community. Many high-school participants, eager to make a difference, have been trained as peer facilitators and are already impacting their communities by sharing their wisdom and experiences with younger students. Strengthening the young people and the families in Milwaukee’s Latino community is a necessary and urgent need, an effective investment in the city of Milwaukee, and a mission to which Casa Romero is deeply committed.
