To seek out and develop leaders starting with high school sophomores, and instill them with an appreciation of our free enterprise system, democracy, and their responsibility to work toward a better world.

Description

HOBY was started by the actor Hugh O'Brian in 1958. It seeks to influence the best and brighest high school sophomore leaders to appreciate their civic responsibility to lead and to contribute to a better democracy and a greater free enterprise system. This is done primarily through 3-day seminars conducted at the end of the school year in 84 locations across the U.S. In the Los Angeles area about 200 sophomores go through the seminar each year. Worldwide over 14,000 attend HOBY seminars in more than 30 countries.
