Mission Statement
TIP- Truancy Intervention Project
TIP is a partnership between the Columbus Bar Association, the Muscogee County School District and Twin Cedars Youth & Family Services, Inc. The program provides volunteer mentors to children who are involved in juvenile court due to excessive absences from school. The goal of the volunteer mentor is to provide positive early intervention, determine the reasons for truancy, and help the family resolve them utilizing community resources. By helping a child stay in school the child's life can be redirected to a positive and constructive future.
Description
Attorney and non attorney mentors who are committed to serve for a minimum of one year to help build healthy and strong communities by providing resources and advocating for children to meet life's challenges and to foster resiliency and hope for a better future by preventing school failure.
