Mission Statement & Goals MISSION The Mission of the Reichhold Center for the Arts is To support programs that preserve and enhance the artistic heritage and cultural foundations of the Virgin Islands, the wider Caribbean and the Americas To enrich the cultural and social life of the University of the Virgin Islands and its community with programs and performances drawn from across the globe that exemplify the best human artistic expression and, in so doing, To be recognized as a center of excellence at the University GOALS The Center seeks to achieve its mission by pursuing the following goals that are directed to three broadly defined constituencies: A. The University Community Students and other members of the University To support development of academic programs at the University of the Virgin Islands that prepare students for careers in performing arts To fulfill the exposure of students and other members of the University community to the performing arts, and to cultivate in them a strong appreciation of the arts. B. The Virgin Islands Community To enrich the cultural life of the Virgin Islands with performances of dance, music and theater; and to involve the community in the life of the University both as audience and participants in the programs of the Center. To develop programs that attract and enlighten the youth of the Community. To assist in the development of a local performing arts tradition. C. The Caribbean and Central America region to be a model performing arts center for the region
