Description
The Community Foundation of South Lake County (CFSLC) has partnered with community non-profit organizations to offer a comprehensive program to meet the needs and provide support to local "at risk" adolescents while awarding them college scholarships. The DREAMers range are 12-15 years old and come from challenging situations and unfortunate circumstances. These teens tend to have more adverse experiences and responsibilities in their home life as well as daily obstacles.
A huge component of the DREAM Initiative is to provide each student with a mentor. Mentorship is powerful; it is fun and enriching to both the mentor and mentee and it’s important. A child being able to experience positive interactions with an adult and form a trusting bond is catalyst for success in many areas of their lives.
