Wildfires are devastating communities across California, causing more than 300,000 people to evacuate their homes and threatening many more. The Camp Fire in Northern California -- one of three blazing across the state -- is the most destructive in state history. Relay For Life is a life-changing event that gives everyone in communities across the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease.
At Relay, teams of people camp out at a local high school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Because cancer never sleeps, Relays are overnight events up to 24 hours in length. Relayers do not have to walk all night, but each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. (relayforlife.org)
Relay for Life of Revere is a community-wide fundraising event in Richfield/Bath, Ohio. Our event is 18 hours long and takes place in late June at Revere High School in Bath.
The planning commitee begins the organization and planning process each October or November, and teams can start to sign up as early as September for the following June.
Various teams may hold different fundraisers, such as raffles, car washes, item sales, etc. In addition, the planning committee generally undertakes its own fundraising.
All event proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society, and its mission to help those fighting cancer and fund research to work towards a cure.
