VOLUNTEERISM is the heart and soul of our organization. We appreciate the myriad contributions of our volunteers, and recognize the power of thank you and of giving back. We seek to promote and encourage service among our stakeholders. We recognize and value the positive accomplishments that volunteers can achieve by working together. We believe that volunteers are positively impacted by our programs as much as the youth and communities we serve.

HOBY has reached more than 345,000 students since 1958. Each year over 9,000 high school students around the world benefit from HOBY leadership programs. Over 4,000 volunteers roll up their sleeves to donate their time to make these seminars a reality.
The corporate board oversees all activities conducted under the HOBY name, has fiduciary responsibility that HOBY programs are operated according to HOBY International standards, and ensures the perpetuation of HOBY through strategic, long-range planning. Our main focus is to secure funding to support HOBY PA-East programs, and to oversee the operations of our three programs: the leadership seminar, community leadership workshops (CLEW) and the alumni association. Interested in helping plan our annual signature youth leadership event (held in late May)? Several seminar board director positions and committee members are needed to help with programming, fund-raising, soliciting gift-in-kind donations, recruiting students (especially from schools that have not previously participated), and much, MUCH more!
