Description

HEDWIG DANCES' performances create worlds of magical beauty with graceful choreography, masterly gestures, and haunting musical scores. At once light-hearted and passionate, the dances nurture a sense of the circular nature of experience, of place and customs, and the commonality of all people. Founded in 1985 by Artistic Director Jan Bartoszek, the critically acclaimed Hedwig Dances has inspired audiences with bold performance and innovative collaborations. In 1992 Hedwig Dances was selected for the prestigious position of dance company in residence at the Chicago Cultural Center. Bartoszekâ  s work has been described as "poignantly human" and has been presented in Brazil, Honduras, and Canada as well as in the United States. Hedwig Dances is dedicated to providing greater opportunities for the arts in our lives by performing, presenting, educating and bridging cultural barriers.
