We inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.
Girls on the Run Central Kentucky is a life-changing, non-profit program for girls in the 3rd through 8th grade. Our mission is to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.
Girls on the Run combines training for a 5K (3.1 miles) running event with healthy living education. Our programs instill self-esteem through health education, life skills development, mentoring relationships, and physical training - all of which are accomplished through an active collaboration with girls and their parents, schools, volunteers, staff and the community.
Loved volunteering but there seemed to be a break in communication. I was a running buddy. I never found out who my partner was. I showed up to a few practices when I had the time. The girls were fun and energetic. I loved working with them. The day of the run I still was not aware of my running buddy even when I asked no one knew. There was more coaches/running buddies than the girls. Although I still enjoyed helping and running with the team. It was a awesome experience!
