Mission Statement
Paterson Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies (PHMHB) was established in 1985 by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services as an initiative to reduce infant mortality. PHMHB serves a diverse population through community outreach and education. Our agency increases awareness of pertinent maternal and child health issues within New Jersey's most ethnically and racially diverse community. We are committed to: * Reducing infant death * Reducing the incidence of low birthweight babies * Reducing the incidence of adolescent pregnancy * Increasing the percentage of women receiving prenatal care
Description
PHMHB is a Coalition of maternal and child health professionals in the public and private sectors - provider associations, national and community based organizations, policy makers, educators, advocates and parents. As an affiliate of the Northern New Jersey Maternal/Child Health Consortium and funded by the State Department of Health and Senior Services, the Coalition members collaborate on important initiatives and share their expertise at meetings, conferences, and in publications. The Coalition provides networking opportunities to achieve our maternal and child health goals by linking health providers, administrators, policy makers, advocates and families through a variety of initiatives designed to improve maternal and infant health outcomes.
