Mission Statement

The Mission of the Sterling Volunteer Fire Company is to provide superior fire protection to our communities through the use of highly trained and motivated fire fighters, the most up to date equipment, responsible financial planning and the cooperation of our neighboring departments.

The Sterling Volunteer Fire Company operates out of two fire stations, responding to more than 3,000 calls annually, and is considered to be one of the busiest and well-trained volunteer fire companies in the State of Virginia. From these stations, volunteers respond with three fire engines, three ladder trucks, a hazardous materials response unit, two "Special Emergency Response Vehicles" and two command units.

We spend countless hours training to maintain certifications in fire fighting, emergency medical services, and technical rescue. We are also constantly upgrading our skills and equipment to keep up with the latest technology and practices in the fire service.

Description

The Sterling Volunteer Fire Company (SVFC), then the Sterling Park Volunteer Fire Company, was chartered August 16, 1966, when Sterling was made up of only a few homes and businesses. The SVFC is located in the suburban community of Sterling, in the eastern part of Loudoun County, Virginia, about 25 miles northwest of Washington, DC. It provides fire suppression services to the residents of Sterling, Great Falls Forest, Broad Run Farms, Countryside, Sugarland Run and Cascades with a Call Area of approximately 25 square miles.

From these stations, volunteers respond with three fire engines, three ladder trucks, a hazardous materials response unit, two "Special Emergency Response Vehicles" and two command units.

The Sterling Volunteer Fire Company’s selfless protection to the community knows no geographic bounds. The Sterling Volunteer Fire Company routinely assists surrounding counties with fire suppression support and services, assisted in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and was one of many first responders to the Pentagon and New York City, playing an important role in the response to the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks upon our great Commonwealth and our great Nation.

Our volunteers are your neighbors, friends, coworkers, fellow worshipers, and the "strangers" you chat with in the grocery line. We live or work along side you in the community. We represent a multitude of occupations with a wide range of skills. Everyone can contribute in some way. We volunteer for different reasons, but we share one professional goal, to be there when you need us. Our operational volunteers are professionally trained, State-certified firefighters. Our associate volunteers perform a variety of functions, often leveraging their professional skills, to keep the Company running. As a volunteer fire company, SVFC provides public fire safety education during community and family events.

The SVFC is a registered 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization. Your donation may be tax deductible.
