Mission Statement

The Children's Chorus of Washington fosters both the artistic and personal development of a diverse and dedicated community of young musicians in the Greater Washington, D.C. area by providing them with an opportunity to study and perform the highest quality choral literature.

Description

Now celebrating its 16 th season, CCW has become one of the finest children’s choral ensembles in the country. CCW was established in 1996 by Artistic Director Joan Gregoryk in response to requests from parents, music educators, and cultural leaders for a world-class children’s chorus in our nation’s capital. Ms. Gregoryk’s efforts to build CCW were supported by parents of her students and former students, who had seen the levels of excellence she helped their children achieve. Today, CCW’s young singers represent over 90 public and private schools in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia. Approximately 150 children participate in CCW’s music education program. Children, ages 9-16 with unchanged voices, are auditioned and placed according to their demonstrated experience, musical skill and ability. 25% of the children participating in the program are of diverse ethnic backgrounds. Scholarships are offered to any student in need and CCW is proud of its commitment and ability to provide the highest quality music education to the area’s talented young singers, regardless of ability to pay.
