Mission Statement

The mission of MetWest High School is to create a learning community dedicated to the education of one student at a time. This starts by giving students the opportunity to learn in a place where people know each other well and treat each other with respect. It continues by designing a customized learning program for each student individually, providing real world opportunities to connect students to their learning, and expecting them to find authentic, meaningful ways to show what they have learned. It culminates in graduating self-directed learners armed with the skills, knowledge, habits (of work, heart, and mind) and experience to succeed in college and beyond. In service of this mission, MetWest provides students with opportunities to participate in 1) real world learning through internships related to their interests, 2) a highly personalized learning experience, characterized by an individual learning plan, 3) and daily advising, internship mentoring, and vigorous academics based on student's interests. As a central part of our goal of preparing ALL students for university academics, MetWest students also take college courses at Laney College.

Description
