Mission Statement
DI is dedicated to teaching children the creative process using creativity tools,
hands-on experiential programming, and trained volunteers. Our Challenge
Program is developed with the input of outside industry experts, educators
volunteers and parents, and it is connected to STEM and National Educational
Standards. At our creativity celebrations, student solutions are not judged, but
apPRAISEd without deducting points. Teams that make it to Global Finals, our
culminating creativity celebration, continue their learning experience by
interacting in our Innovation Expo, which features world-class organizations such
as NASA, 3M, Casio, Texas Instruments, Michigan Tech, AEM/Volvo, Keva Planks,
Ameresco Solar, and the U.S. Air Force.
Description
Destination ImagiNation (DI) is an educational program in which student teams solve open-ended Challenges and presen their solutions at a Tournament. DI is designed to teach three essential principles: Creativity, Teamwork and Problem Solving.
DI participants are tested to think on their feet, work as a team and devise original solutions that satisfy the requirements of the Challenges. DI participants gain more than just basic knowledge and skills. they learn to unleash their imaginations and take unique approaches to problem solving.
