Mission Statement

West Side Campaign Against Hunger is a community-based emergency food program and social service agency located in New York CIty. Through a customer-cooperative, supermarket style food pantry, WSCAH alleviates hunger and creates a culture that promotes self reliance and works for change. WSCAH changes our perception of hungry people by working in partnership with them, providing food with dignity, and empowering customers to find solutions.

Description

As a leader in emergency food pantry innovation, WSCAH focuses on long-term improvements. WSCAH has built a team of social service counselors who work with customers to help them toward self-sufficiency. WSCAH has created a network of social service partners, onsite and off, who greatly increase our ability to connect customers to programs that help. In addition, WSCAH has developed in-house chef training and exercise programs.
