Mission Statement

The organization's mission is to stimulate, promote and develop interest in the musical environments, to educate the general public in the musical environment, to advance the national culture in the musical environment through the performance of, and education in the wind and percussion ensemble, and symphonic band musical literatures. In addition, to provide opportunity for development of individual musicianship and musical skills; and for individual musical expression and enjoyment of music among its membership and the general public.

Description

The City of Fairfax Band Association, Inc. is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization of over 120 members that sponsors seven performing ensembles in Northern Virginia. All performing groups toghether, the City of Fairfax Band, Alte Kameraden German Band, Fairfax Swing Band, Fairfax Saxophone Quartet, Rebel Run Dixie Land Band, Just Jazz Septet, and Potomac Brass Quintet present over 120 performances annually through Northern Virginia and the mid-Atlantic region, and sponsors an annual scholarship (currently at the $2000 level) to a gifted Northern Virginia high school junior or senior.
