Description

First In Families of North Carolina is a state-wide non-profit supporting individuals with Developmental Disabilities and/or Traumatic Brain Injuries and their families. Our programs:

FIF Chapters
FIFNC currently has 13 chapters across the state of North Carolina that cover 45 counties. FIFNC also offers assistance to families in the remaining 55 counties through the Lifeline Project. FIF partners with local communities and businesses to respond to requests from individuals and families with Developmental Disabilities and/or Traumatic Brain Injuries. For expample, we obtained donated furniture for a teenage with a traumatic brain injury who is setting up a new apartment, and partnered with a local organization to provide a wheelchair ramp to a family member with Spina Bifida.

Lifetime Connections
Lifetime Connections offers unique supports and future planning services to people with all types of disabilities and their families. It provides an alternative or addition to traditional services, through a comprehensive, membership-based set of services tailored to each individual or family. Core services include personal networks and workshops on wills and estate planning.

FIFNC Time Bank
Its newest program, FIFNC started Time Banking as a perfect complement to the core belief that everyone has something of worth to share with others. The FIFNC Time Bank connects community members through a system for sharing skills and services in which no money is exchanged - only time and talents. All services are valued equally, and Time Bank members include people with and without disabilities.

Lifeline Project
Through a combination of private grants, donations, and fundraising, FIFNC assists eligible families in North Carolina counties not served by a local FIF Chapter.
