CPS Academic Decathlon develops and provides academic competition to promote multidisciplinary learning and academic excellence through teamwork among students of all scholastic levels. This program also enhances decathletes’ analytical, critical thinking, literacy, research, and leadership skills, and boosts self-confidence to help them succeed in the classroom, post-secondary, and in life.
Chicago Public Schools (CPS)currently has 500 students from 50 high schools to compete in 7 academic areas: art, math, economics, music, science, langauge and literature, and super quiz. These students compete in two citywide competitions and the citywide winner then progresses to the state competition. The culminating event is the national competition where students compete against other state championship teams.
