Mission Statement

Sit - Stay & Learn is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation in West Orange, NJ whose main focus is to promote the humane treatment of animals (namely Canines) through dog rescue, the education of New Jersey’s children and by helping provide the tools and resources necessary for responsible dog ownership

Description

Sit - Stay & Learn rescues dogs from animal shelters, fosters them for approximately 6-8 weeks and then seeks to find them permanent and loving homes. We focus on the larger bully breeds that are less likely to be adopted and tend to be overlooked due to fear, prejudice or lack of knowledge about the breed(s). During the foster period, the dog is spayed or neutered, vaccinated and temperament is determined.

The second part of Sit - Stay & Learn’s mission is education. The goal is to educate the community about three things:

(1) The unfortunate realities of dog fighting and why it is cruel
(2) The importance of adoption and responsible dog ownership
(3) The inhumane nature of puppy mills and pet stores
