Mission Statement

The mission of the Dane County CASA Program is to act in the best interests of children in need of protection and services(CHIPS) by providing trained volunteers to act in the best interests of these children and to assist guardian ad litem attorneys and social workers in presenting information to the court. Achieving this mission requires the development of good working relationships between the Dane County Juvenile Courts, the Dane County Department of Human Services (DCDHS), and the Dane County CASA Program.

Description

Volunteers are specially trained everyday people who have an interest in helping abused and neglected children. Volunteers have one case and commit to serve for one year. CASA volunteers meet with the child weekly, talk to everyone involved in the child's life, check to make sure parents are following court orders and then write a monthly progress report to the judge. In this way they help to ensure the safety of the child(ren).
