Mission Statement

The Chicago School Forensic Center is committed to providing high-quality forensic psychological services and programming, such as evidence-based interventions, policy advocacy, and program development, to improve the health and well-being of individuals within diverse communities. Also, the center offers service-learning opportunities to educate students to become competent and civically engaged forensic mental health practitioners.

Description

The Forensic Center functions as a training and treatment facility within The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. As the practice arm of the Department of Forensic Psychology, The TCS Forensic Center specializes in, but is not limited to, providing a wide range of mental health services and interventions to children, families, and adults who have contact with the legal sector. Services are provided to clients by psychologists, mental health professionals, and graduate students who are part of The Chicago School of Professional Psychology.

The Center accepts clients through self-referral on an individual basis, as well as DCFS Medicaid clients through child welfare agency referrals. Services are offered at no-cost to low-cost, based on the client’s ability to pay.

Additionally, the Center partners with local, state, and national organizations and agencies to provide community-based services to the under-served and under-resourced free of charge. The Center will accept referrals from referring partners once a formal partnership is established. Partners must serve marginalized communities and demonstrate a lack of expertise or limited resources to address the mental health needs of their client base. . As a training facility, TCS students are able to work alongside Forensic Center faculty and staff in providing mental health services and programming through service-learning and practica experiences. These programs offer a great opportunity for psychology students to gain hands-on experience and involvement with the psychology field, while under the supervision of experienced faculty and staff.

The Forensic Center is committed to social justice and empowerment of the under-served. No one will be denied access to services due to the inability to pay. There is a discounted/sliding fee schedule available to determine cost of services. Also, The Forensic Center does not discriminate clients based upon race, color, sex, national origin, disability, religion, age, or sexual orientation.
