Mission Statement

The mission of SBLC is to improve the self-sufficiency of educationally disadvantaged adults. SBLC is a community-based nonprofit organization providing functional literacy and life skills training, in addition to career preparation services, to residents in the Baltimore Area. SBLC is in its 29th year of operation - an incredible milestone for a nonprofit - and is now one of only a few remaining community-based adult literacy organizations still in operation.

Description

The South Baltimore Learning Center is a private, nonprofit adult literacy organization working to improve the basic educational and job skill levels of individuals in the community. Day, afternoon, and evening classes are offered in Adult Basic Education, Pre-GED and GED. We also offer computer classes, one-on-one tutoring for low-level readers and the External Diploma Program.
