Mission Statement

MISSION STATEMENT: Ladyfest Ohio is a not-for-profit feminist arts and activism festival based in Columbus and scheduled for Spring 2004. The festival is dedicated to promoting the artistic talents and political goals of ladies (past, present, and future). We refuse the separation between art and activism and aim to make our voices heard.

Description

Ladyfest is an all-inclusive, women-run event, and all are welcome to attend. The festival will include workshops, film/video, music, visual arts, performance and moreĆ¢ whatever talented women come up with. All events are meant to build a stronger community for women in Columbus and throughout Ohio. Ladyfest Ohio is part of a tradition of grassroots organized festivals dedicated to increasing the visibility of women, trans-identified people, queer people, people of color, and people from a wide variety of cultures who are involved in the arts and activism. We hope to continue in the footsteps of the original Ladyfest, while making the event specific and relevant to the needs of our community. Ladyfest Ohio aims to stimulate conversation and interaction between pro-women people of all ages, abilities, races, cultures, and genders, and to encourage an awareness of the many levels of privilege and oppression in society. We hope to empower girls and women of all ages to discover and contribute their artistic and political voices to their communities. Ladyfest Ohio strives to create an all-inclusive safe space outside the often male dominated corporate and mainstream culture. We believe in community building al all levels, and aim to foster a strong feminist movement through our art and activism, while also making Ladyfest inclusive, representative, and accessible.
