Mission Statement

?TEMPLE BETH TORAH of the San Fernando Valley (TBT) is a community created, maintained, and supported by its members that embodies the ideals and practices of the spectrum of Reform Judaism and serves Jewish individuals and families in the San Fernando Valley and beyond. The mission of TBT is to serve as a House of Learning, a House of Worship, a House of Assembly, and as part of the larger world, demonstrating our responsibility to society. ? As a House of Learning (Beit Midrash), TBT provides knowledge and education for adults and children, striving to help its members create Jewish homes, embody Jewish values, and follow Jewish practices that reflect Torah as understood by Reform Judaism. ? As a House of Worship (Beit Tefilah), TBT provides a home for community worship for the range of Jewish life-cycle and year-cycle events, in a participatory environment that enhances one's spiritual relationship with God through liturgy and music. ? As a House of Assembly (Beit Knesset), TBT serves as a welcoming extended family, sharing each other's simchas and supporting each other through our tzuris, and celebrating that which we share with Judaism in the large. ? As part of the larger world, TBT serves to repair the world (Tikkun Olam) by providing a Jewish presence in the community, by providing education about social action issues, by supporting Reform Judaism in the land of Israel, and by partnering with our Jewish and non-Jewish neighbors to better serve the community and build coalitions with other faith communities.
