The mission of the Paul Taylor Dance Foundation is to maintain the Paul Taylor Dance Company, founded in 1954, as one of the finest ensembles in the world by: · Presenting Mr. Taylor's new and existing work, currently comprised of 119 dances, to audiences world-wide; · Sharing and exposing, through Taylor 2's education and community outreach, Mr. Taylor's work and distinct artistic style to audiences that are diverse in geography, age, education, economic background, and level of exposure to dance; · Ensuring that Paul Taylor has the financial resources to create two new works each year; · Documenting and preserving Mr. Taylor's existing and future works for audiences, dancers, scholars, and students.

Description

The Paul Taylor Dance Company, founded in 1954, celebrates the artistry of Paul Taylor by performing his works throughout the United States and around the world. The Company has performed Mr. Taylor's works in over 60 countries and more than 450 cities. It has represented the United States at arts festivals in more than 40 countries and has toured extensively under the auspices of the U.S. Department of State. The Paul Taylor Dance Foundation has built upon the origins of the company and aspires to reach grow beyond limits, becoming a long-needed institutional home for the American modern dance genre.
