American Cancer Society Hope Lodge volunteers provide unique short-term or one-time services to Hope Lodge guests. This is a great opportunity for individual or group volunteers. Opportunities are available 7 days a week. Sample opportunities include: light housekeeping, laundry, activity calendar coordination, office coverage, preparing meals, improving facility and grounds, gardening, coordinating and leading guest entertainment, games and activities, facility decorating for special occasions and holidays and other activities specific to local lodge and volunteer interest. Covid-19 policy compliance is required. Commitment to following Hope Lodge policies and procedures helps keep our guests healthy while they are receiving treatment. Volunteers should be age 18 or older; youth volunteers may be accepted with adult chaperones. Every three-five mile Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk is a powerful and inspiring opportunity to unite as a community to honor breast cancer survivors, and raise awareness about steps we can take to reduce the risk of getting breast cancer. Volunteers greet walkers and lead them to check in. Cheer on walkers, provide directions. Event is rain or shine so plan for the weather.

American Cancer Society Hope Lodge Meal Volunteers participate in our "Cooking Up Hope" program to provide and serve our Hope Lodge guests with either breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Meals can be home-made or purchased. Opportunities are available 7 days a week. Specific days/times can be discussed with the Hope Lodge staff once volunteers have signed up for the opportunity. Can be a one-time or recurring opportunity. Covid-19 policy compliance is required. Commitment to following Hope Lodge policies and procedures helps keep our guests healthy while they are receiving treatment. Our Hope Lodge guests are traveling far from home to receive cancer treatment. Donated meals are appreciated by the guests and provide comfort along with reduced financial strain. Men Wear Pink gives men a leadership role in the fight against breast cancer. Community leaders around the nation use the power of pink to raise awareness and money for the American Cancer Society's breast cancer initiatives, including innovative research, patient services, and education around screenings and risk reduction. A Men Wear Pink campaign consists of community leaders who agree to the following: Fundraise alongside other candidates to compete for top fundraising status. Raise $2,500 or more by the fundraising deadline. Commit to wearing pink every day in October to promote their efforts. Raise awareness and funds by leveraging personal connections, profession networks, social networks, and the campaign website, and by hosting third-party fundraising events. Day of event volunteers support Making Strides Against Breast Cancer events by helping with setup or cleanup, or by assisting with general event duties. Every three to five mile Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk is a powerful and inspiring opportunity to unite as a community to honor breast cancer survivors, and raise awareness about steps we can take to reduce the risk of getting breast cancer. These roles are good for groups. Youth should be supervised by an adult chaperone. Specific duties will be shared at the event.
