Description

Volunteer Guidelines for Pediatric Floor

1. An individual who has experience working with children, i.e., a teacher or former teacher, a student studying child development/child psychology/education, a recreational therapist, etc.
2. Required: patience, a willingness to learn, a minimum commitment of one year and 4 hours per week, training with supervision for a minimum of 4 weeks.
3. Responsibilities: spending time with patients and patients’ siblings in the inpatient unit’s playroom, supervising activities in the pediatric outpatient clinic’s waiting area, bedside visits with pediatric patients, cleaning toys as needed. Time spent with patients and patients’ siblings can include doing art projects, reading, playing board games, dramatic play, etc.
