Mission Statement

Vista Center empowers individuals who are blind or visually impaired to embrace life to the fullest through evaluation, counseling, education and training. We serve individuals of all ages, living in San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, and San Benito Counties, who are threatened by loss of independence due to moderate or severe vision impairment. Our highly professional and caring staff provides a comprehensive array of individualized rehabilitation services in the client's own environment, or in one of our three inviting centers.

Description

Volunteers help Vista Center clients achieve their goals in variety of ways.

In the Client-Partner program, volunteers meet regularly with clients to help with mail, read aloud, go on walks, run errands or other tasks, based on client needs.

As Accessibility Team Members, with additional training and oversight, volunteers help clients develop filing/tracking systems, program phones, and/or label appliances, on an as-needed bais.

Event volunteers lend support through a variety of tasks at Vista's key fundraising events: Woof to Woof, A Vintage Affaire, and the Menlo Charity Horse Show.

On-Call volunteers assist with events or tasks, as needed, when their schedules permit.
