Mission Statement

SCCR’s mission is to rescue homeless animals and responsibly place them into permanent, loving homes.

Description

SCCR rescues homeless dogs, mostly from Chicago Animal Care & Control, and places them into loving homes. SCCR is a foster-home based rescue, meaning we do not have a physical shelter and rely on volunteer foster homes to house our dogs until they find their forever homes.

I am volunteering for the first time for this brand new canine rescue organization at an event on 11/5/11 at All Things Woof and Meow Too in Roselle, Illinois. If you can, be sure to stop by and meet the people who organized Second City Canine Rescue and the dogs they will have there. These people are so passionate about saving these animals and want to make sure they get what they call "forever homes". When they first receive a dog, they have a Vet give it a checkup to make sure it is healthy. Every dog is in a foster home with loving foster parents who evaluate them and learn their likes and dislikes, if they like children, other animals etc. so you can adopt the kind of dog you really want. Oh, and by the way, if anyone should have any extra supplies lying around to donate, they're looking for crates, bowls, collars & leashes, etc. If you have anything you think they can use, please send an e-mail to SecondCityCanineRescue@gmail.com. Hope to see you at one of their events soon!
