Mission Statement

The Youth Council has been serving families in greater Nashua since 1974, working to strengthen families, improve decision-making and reduce involvement with the juvenile justice system.

Each year, more than 2,000 children, teens' and parents' lives are improved through attending our
• assessment and referral program
• parenting classes
• counseling services or
• effective prevention programs.

Most of the families we serve are facing the challenges of raising children - from struggling with behavior issues at home to dealing with the loss of a loved one or early experimentation with alcohol or other drugs. Our children and teens come from all walks of life, with all income levels, family structures and stressors.

Description

Families that seek our services are struggling with their child/teen’s behavioral issues, alcohol and other drug problems and a myriad of other difficulties that without our assistance would fall through the cracks.

Today’s current economic challenges are leading more families to seek our help, and the severity of their issues is also on the rise, requiring highly qualified staff and significant levels of community collaboration. Judges, guidance counselors, police officers and youth workers continue to rely on our effective programs, with measurable outcomes, to benefit these vulnerable children, teens and families.
