Mission Statement
Our Mission is to unlock the heart of the city with the love of Christ, through the Arts.
Our Vision is to call youth, as Christ's workmanship, to make life-giving choices that transform the city.
Description
AGAP (Anacostia Gracious Arts Program) is a District of Columbia-based 501(c)3 that promotes and fosters artistic creativity; life-skills enrichment; one-on-one mentoring; academic support; and faith-developing through its program, which uses the arts as a vehicle for life-affirmation, positive individual and community artistic expression, and physical/ emotional/spiritual growth and maturity.
Our students live in a segment of the District that has historically been designed as "underprevileged," and live primarily within the confines of a specific housing development.
In existence since 1999, AGAP has garnered the loyal support of many of the parents and guardians of our students, who have expressed their gratitude for our entire program--which includes outings to arts-related activities; stories from guest speakers; classes held by highly-skilled local artists (photography, dance, voice, drums, drama, and drawing/painting); a nutritious dinner and faith-based lessons and discussions.
