Mission Statement

The mission of Synergy Services, Inc. is to eliminate family violence, abuse, and neglect by providing quality services for persons of all ages. We seek to empower the individual, strengthen the family, and develop our community through crisis intervention, shelter, counseling, advocacy, and education.

Description

Synergy began operations in 1971 as a shelter for runaway and homeless youth in Western Missouri, then known as Synergy House. Services to youth and their families grew to include individual, family, and group therapy. In 1984, SafeHaven opened as a shelter for victims of domestic violence and to provide outpatient counseling, individual advocacy, court advocacy, and support groups. It was during the mid 1980's that the Children's Advocacy Council began offering prevention programming and mentoring services to benefit youth at risk. Each of these agencies had the common denominator of family or domestic violence, abuse, or neglect. Synergy House and SafeHaven merged in 1997 forming Synergy. The Children's Advocacy Council merged with Synergy in 1998. Because of these mergers, Synergy is now able to provide a continuum of care that includes emergency shelter, crisis hotlines, residential services, advocacy, mentoring, therapeutic counseling and prevention education for adults, youth and children in the Kansas City Metropolitan area. Synergy Services has multiple locations through out the Kansas City area.
