Mission Statement

Our mission is to prevent blindness and preserve sight throughout the state of Tennessee. We achieve our goals through community service, public and professional education, research, development or new programs, information and referral.

Description

Prevent Blindness Tennessee is an affiliate of Prevent Blindness America, founded in 1908. PBT works to find those Tennesseeans at risk of losing sight to such conditions as cataract and glaucoma and to get them into treatment before it is too late. We offer visions screenings and education programs to hundreds of older Tennesseans at Senior Centers, health fares and in the work place. We provide vision screenings to children in preschool, first, third and fifth grade. We also provide a resource manual "Living with Sight Loss" and a myriad of referral, educational and informational services to clients.
