NHT/Enterprise’smission is to promote economic stability for low-income families by providing affordable housing rental and community development programs that foster self-sufficiency.
NHT/Enterprise is a joint 501 (c) 3 venture between the National Housing Trust (NHT) and Enterprise Community Partners, Inc (Enterprise). We are an award winning non-profit housing developer that works to protect affordable housing stock for low-income families at risk due to deterioration, landlord neglect, or conversion to prevailing, market rate rents (gentrification). Because of our work, families living in our communities pay between $300-$500 below current market rates for rent. The importance of such affordable rents cannot be lost in light of gentrification and the overall economic climate. Our ability to offer working families such low rents helps provide the very foundation for family economic stability. Our community development programs help build upon this foundation by working to move families along the economic continuum.
Community development programs take place on-site where our residents live and offer a pathway for family economic stability. Having the programs on-site allows us to creatively address challenges often prevalent in low-income communities. Specific programs offer tutoring through science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) instruction to under-performing youth. Other programs combine job training with efforts to connect families with mainstream banking services or free tax preparation to maximize the earned income tax credit (EITC). Still other programs focus on ways in which to develop youth leadership, encourage greater parental participation and offer opportunities for all residents to give back through community service.
