Mission Statement

The YMCA-PG&E Teen Center provides vital programs and services to teens in Berkeley and surrounding communities. With a focus on academic achievement, career preparation, service learning and leadership development, the Teen Center provides access to programs that cultivate the skills and relationships that teens need to succeed academically, become leaders in their communities, and find meaningful employment.

Description

The Y-Scholars Program is a college outreach program at the YMCA-PG&E Teen Center, which is located just two blocks down the street from the Downtown Berkeley BART station. The program engages high school students in a comprehensive college-going culture to encourage them to pursue meaningful post-secondary programs and institutions. We work with 200 first-generation college-bound students in grades 9-12, preparing them to pursue higher education through career exploration and academic achievement.
