Mission Statement

The Webb-Deane-Stevens Museum promotes understanding of colonial life and its enduring influence in the lower Connecticut River Valley through the preservation and interpretation of its buildings, collections, and grounds.

Description

Founded in 1919, the Museum is the centerpiece of Old Wetherfield, Connecticut's largest historic district. The Museum is named for the three 18th-century houses which form its principal facilities: the 1752 Joseph Webb House (a National Historic Landmark); the 1766 Silas Deane House (a National Historic Landmark); and the 1789 Isaac Stevens Houses (listed on the National Register of Historic Places). The Museum is owned by The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America in the State of Connecticut.
