The Association for Better Community Development, Inc. (The ABCD, Inc.) is a private nonprofit community development corporation committed to improving the quality of life for people primarily in Stark County, Ohio through community economic development, energy conservation, housing development, and transportation.

Description

The Association for Better Community Development, Inc. (The ABCD, Inc.) has served Stark County,Ohio and surrounding communities for 38 years. Since 1978, the agency has provided transportation services with an average daily ridership of 250 people. The agency is certified as a Community Housing Development Organization (CHODO) and in 2005, became certified as a HUD Counseling Agency. Also, the agency operates the Center for Entrepreneurial Development and an Energy Conservation program.

A 15 member Board of Directors governs the agency with a total of 24 staff and independent contractors that deliver various services to the community. The staff includes 3 HUD certified housing counselors. The agency operates on an annual budget of $1.2 million through funding that is primarily made available through government contracts, service fees, foundation grants, and private contributions.
